Alice Whisler, 95, of Burnsville, MN, formerly of East Grand Forks, MN, passed away on Monday, June 30, 2008 at Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina, MN.
Alice Stokke was born on Oct. 13, 1912 in New Folden Twp., Marshall County, MN, the daughter of Louis and Alma (Saugen) Stokke. She graduated from Newfolden Community High School in 1933. On June 8, 1934, she married Richard Peterson. They farmed west of Argyle, MN until they retired and moved to East Grand Forks, MN. Richard died on June 3, 1966. Alice married Russell Whisler on Feb. 14, 1978. They lived on a farm by Red Lake Falls, MN. Russell died on Sept. 18, 1989. After Russell died, Alice returned to her home in East Grand Forks and lived there until 1997 when she moved into a senior apartment. She moved to Burnsville in Nov. of 2004.
She was a member of the Christian Reform Church in East Grand Forks and a very active member of the EGF Senior Center.
Alice loved card playing, music and going fishing. She always stayed active. Alice didn’t miss an activity at Ebenezer Ridges with her favorite being art class. She also loved making her beaded necklaces.
Survivors include two sons, Rodney Peterson of Las Vegas, NV and Curtis (Linda) Peterson of Savage, MN, five grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, sister, Eva Ruth of Sonora, CA and brother, Lyle Stokke of Viking, MN.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Richard and Russell and two brothers.
