Alice Jean Sipperley

Age 88, passed away on Thursday, January 21, 2016 following a brief illness and a number years of declining health. She was born in Danby Township on April 20, 1927 to Charles and Lenora (Shafer) Wheeler.
She attended the Barr School, followed by Portland High School, where she graduated in 1944. Following graduation, she worked for Holly Carburetor. In 1947, she married Arnold Sipperley and they operated Forest Dow’s farm, which they eventually owned. Following Arnold’s death in 1982, she continued operating the farm, with help from her family. For several years she also drove school bus for Portland Schools, worked for Iler’s Orchard and was the caregiver for Earl and Bernice Iler in their last years.
Alice enjoyed many kinds of fancy needle work, and presented many homemade gifts to family members over the years.
