Alfred J. Pohlman, 85, of Rhineland, Missouri, passed away on Friday, March 30, 2012 at Hermann Area District Hospital, Hermann, Missouri.
Mr. Pohlman was born in Rhineland, Missouri on May 3, 1926, the son of the late Alfred and Adela (Weber) Pohlman.
He graduated from Hermann High School in 1944 and served in the Merchant Marines from 1944-1946.
He was the husband of Maxine (Korman) Pohlman. They were married July 23, 1955 at St. Joseph’s Church, Rhineland, MO. She survives in Rhineland.
Alfred is also survived by a son Randall Pohlman & wife Diana of Rhineland, Missouri, three daughters Mary Jo Dixon & husband Dru of West Plains, Missouri, Sharon Pohlman of Hermann, Missouri and Donna Watson & husband John of Waterloo, Illinois, one sister Dolores Lenger of Chesterfield, Missouri, eight grandchildren, one step-grandchild and three step-great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and by his siblings Bernice Dennis, Lillian Dufner, Mercedes Himmelberg, Cletus Pohlman, Emma Frances Baruzzini and Vivian Pohlman.
Alfred was a member of Church of the Risen Savior, Rhineland, Missouri, Holy Name Society, the Knights of Columbus, teamster local #833 and the American Legion of Rhineland.
He started working as a farmer, then in 1949 he started his own dairy business until 1972. In 1977 he worked as a teamster for Daniel International at the Callaway Nuclear Plant.
