Alberta “Bert” Jean Shoemake, 79, of Steelville, MO passed away Friday, January 16, 2009 at Phelps County Regional Medical Center in Rolla, MO. She was born November 29, 1929 to Albert and Leona (Schildknecht) Glore in St. Louis, MO. On August 23, 1947 in Winfield, MO, she was united in marriage to Cleveland Shoemake who preceded her in death on March 9, 2007.
She will be sadly missed by five sons, Lee Shoemake and wife Lillian of Cuba, MO, Jacob Shoemake and wife Loretta, Monroe Shoemake and wife Carol and Eddie Shoemake all of Steelville, MO and Bobby Shoemake of Victorville, CA; four daughters, LaDonna Fulliam and Sue Barton and husband Grover all of Steelville, MO, Sherry Blaser and husband Denny of Potosi, MO and Judy Neeley and husband Charlie of Park Hill, MO; one sister, Shirley Lavy and husband Bob of Peoria, IL; three brother-in-laws, Richard, Jimmy and Virgil Shoemake; seven sisters-in-law, Phillis Wymer, Mableen Smith, Jackie Burleson, Melba Boxsteader, Linda Anderson, Joyce Beebe and Carol Shoemake; twenty-eight grandchildren, fifty-two great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; other relatives and friends.
Alberta was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Cleveland; one son, Tommy Shoemake; three daughters, Ruth Ann, Stella Louise and Mary Jane Shoemake; two brothers, Albert (Junior) Glore II and Thomas Glore; one grandson, Joseph Shoemake.
Alberta attended the Northside Full Pentecostal Church in Steelville.
