Albert Dwayne “Hap” Hawkins, age 85 of Iron passed away Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at Essentia Health Virginia. He was born April 4, 1930 in Highmore, SD the son of James and Virginia (Kelley) Hawkins, and graduated from high school in Eau Claire, WI. Hap married Carol Wozniak on October 20th, 1951 in Eau Claire. He worked as a Chemical Analyst at Oliver Iron Mining Company and US Steel Minntac and was a millwright at Eveleth Taconite. Hap was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Virginia Ward, where he had served as Branch President, was active in genealogy, and had served as a Stake Counselor in the Duluth Stake. He enjoyed gardening and did a little farming.
Hap is survived by his wife of 64 years: Carol; children: Peter (Suki), Scott (DeRae), and Dennis; grandchildren: Danny, Trevor (Courtney), Kristina (Jamie), Christopher, and Mathew; great-grandchildren: Isabella and Vincent; brothers: Don (Roxanne), Wesley (Marianne), and Robert “Steve” (Carol) and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents: James and Virginia, brothers: Byron, Marvin “Cork”, Willis “Bill”, Jimmy, Joseph, Delmar and sisters: “Teck” and Lavone.
