Today, we have come to celebrate the life of Rev. Albert Clark, born December 22, 1935 in Macon, Mississippi to the late Annie B. McClung and Sammie Lee Clark who preceded him in death.
Albert was united in holy matrimony to Mary Louis Clark on June 29, 1957, where he served as a loving husband and a devoted father.
Albert confessed a hope in Christ at an early age and joined the Mt. Bethel M.B Church under the leadership of Rev. C.S. Hale and served in various capacities. Rev. Clark accepted the call into ministry and was elevated as pastor. He faithfully served as the pastor of the St. John M.B Church in Macon, MS and Mt. Horton M.B. Church in Prairie Point. Rev. Clark worked as a sharecropper for most of his life for Mr. Boswell Stevens and family. Additionally, he served as a janitor at B.F. Liddell Elementary School in Macon, MS for several years.
On the evening of January 24, 2023, Albert departed this life. He was preceded in death by both parents and six siblings: John Lee Clark, Sammie Earl Clark, Walter Clark, Sammie Lee Clark, JT Clark, and Richard Lee Brooks. Albert leaves to cherish his memory five children: Bobby C. Foote of Macon, MS; Johnny Will (Rose) Foote of Columbus, MS; Walter Bush of Rochester, MN; Shirley Smith of Columbus, MS; and Debra Smith of Cordova, TN; and four siblings: Jimmie Clark of Macon, MS; Millie Tate of Macon, MS; Sallie Mae Gilkey of Elgin, IL; and Pearlie Mae Kirkpatrick of Elgin, IL.
The legacy Albert leaves to his many grandchildren, great- grandchildren, and the host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends will always be remembered.
Albert was a God-fearing man who loved the Lord. Despite his illness, he kept the faith until God called him home. He promised him a place where there will be no more sickness, sorrow or pain.
We will truly miss his presence, but we will find strength in the memories that we hold close in our hearts. This world was not his home, he was just passing through.
