Age 92, loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2009. She was born on September 1, 1916 in Fowler the daughter of John and Anna (Schneider) Thelen. Mrs. Arens was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Christian Mothers. She married Joseph Arens on June 27, 1939 and he preceded her in death in 1992. She was also preceded in death by sisters, Elizabeth Thelen, Martha Schafer, Sister Catherine, Hilda Bengel, Rose Ann Bengel, Pauline Martin, and Irene Pohl; brothers, Herman and Louis Thelen. Surviving are her 6 sons, Albert (Maureen) Arens, Dennis (Marie) Arens, Thomas (Kathy) Arens, Kenneth (Cheryl) Arens, and Daniel (Mary) Arens, all of Westphalia, and Gary (Lisa) Arens of Dewitt; 12 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; sister, Mary Ann Smith of Pewamo; brother-in-law, Donald (Gertrude) Arens of Fowler; sister-in-law, Dorothy (Daniel) O’Brien of Westphalia; several nieces and nephews.
