Sebasco – A. Louise Pierce, 82 of Black Landing Rd. died Wednesday March 3, 2010 at Winship Green Nursing Center in Bath.
She was born in Sebasco on October 22, 1927 a daughter of Henry W. and Estella McKenney Alexander, and was educated in Phippsburg.
Louise worked as a clerk at J.J. Newbury’s for several years prior to her marriage on Sept. 4, 1947 to Arthur S. Pierce and they made their home in Sebasco. She was pastor of the Advent Christian Church on Middle St., Bath, for ten years following the death of her father who had been the pastor. After raising her children she worked as the Stern man on her son’s lobster boat for over 20 years retiring in 1998.
She was a member of Sebasco Estates Nazarene Church, where she was very active and had served as its pianist for a number of years.
Her devotion to God and her family were the most important things in her life.
Louise was an avid birdwatcher and enthusiast; she also enjoyed gardening, knitting and reading.
She is predeceased by two sisters, Lois Alexander and Alberta Nickerson; and four brothers, Ellsworth “Tom” Alexander, Clyde Alexander, Walter “Bud” Alexander and Rev. Calvin Alexander.
Surviving are her husband of 62 years, Arthur S. Pierce Sr.; two sons, Arthur S. Pierce and his wife Eneeda of Brunswick, and Dean F. Pierce and his wife Deborah of Phippsburg; two sisters, Edith Burgess and Shirley Murphy; a half sister, Ruth Alexander; a step sister, Elaine Knee; four brothers, Lendall Alexander, Richard Alexander, Russell Alexander, Henry Alexander Jr.; a half brother, Duane Alexander; three step brothers, Danny Worth, Robert Worth, and Alan Worth; eight grandchildren; six great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
