Ina Novel Dickens “Nannie”, 84, of Temple, passed away on Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at her home in Temple.
Novel was born on December 24, 1936, to Thomas and Syble Lilley. She was raised in East, Texas before marrying Norman Doyle Dickens “Papa” and beginning a long and beautiful life together, lasting nearly sixty years. Novel was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother.
Novel lived all over Texas while raising her family and helping her husband start his very own dairy business. Novel and her family settled in Killeen, Texas where she spent many years raising her beautiful family. Nannie’s home was home to many and many are who they are today because of the love she showed them.
Nannie is survived by her daughter, Scharllotte Dickens Anderson and her husband Tommy of Temple, TX.; son, Durrell and his wife Anne of League City, TX., son Doyle Thomas and his wife Theresa of Gatesville, TX.; a brother, Van Lilley of Franklin, TX.; eight grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and her beloved Chihuahua, Buttercup.
Nannie is preceded in death by her husband, Doyle, and her great-granddaughter, Chelsea Navarro.
Nannie was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church in Morgans Point, TX., and a firm believer in her Lord and Savior.
