Norman W. Edwards, 79, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Friday, February 12, 2010 at his long-time Boise home.
Norman was born April 14, 1930 in Payette, Idaho to Roy and Ethel Edwards. He was raised in Payette, later settling in Boise. In 1948 he met Darlene Grant, eventually asking for her hand in marriage. Norman and Darlene were married on June 27, 1952 and were sealed at the Idaho Falls Temple on March 11, 1967, and enjoyed 57 wonderful years together. Norman and Darlene’s home was always open to family members passing through town. Norman’s real passion in life was his family, always placing their needs before his own.
Norman was a mail carrier for 30 years, retiring in 1985. For the rest of his life he was able to remember the addresses of friends and family, even though they had not lived there for years.
Norman was beloved by all for his wonderful clever comments and dry humor. Throughout his life he was known as a prankster and had a great sense of humor that was enjoyed by all that knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Darlene (Grant) Edwards; and their three children, Elizabeth Purnell (David), Michelle “Shelley” Leach (Bill), and Chris Edwards (Carinne); grandchildren, Derek, Kathryn, Annette, and Maureen Mickey, Christian, and Michael Purnell, Jourdan and Marshall Leach, Ethan and Estee Edwards, and McKenzie, Jade and Madeline Milner; and great grandson, Ryley Norman Leach. He is also survived by siblings, Ardus Smith, Leonard Edwards (Adella) and Donna Clark. He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Cleo Edwards, Edgar Fee; and granddaughter, Alyssa Leach.
