Norman Wesley Eastman, age 83 of Midland died at MidMichigan Medical Center on Friday, April 17, 2009.
The son of the late Harry and Grace V. (Gay) Eastman was born on April 13, 1926 in Porter Twp. where he was raised and educated, graduating from Midland High School. He served with the U.S. Army Military Police during WWII. On October 9, 1943 he married the former Margaret E. Gray in Midland. Norman worked shortly for Saginaw Steering Gear prior to joining the Dow Chemical Co. where he worked as a Contract Administrator for 42 years. During his career with Dow he spent two years in Mexico working on a Dock unloading system and four years in Canada working on a new petro chemical plant. After retiring Norman worked as a consultant for Dow for several years. Norman and Margaret traveled extensively in their motor home; residing in Sedona, AZ for many winters. They returned to the Six Lakes area in 1990 where they established a family farm. Midland has been their home for the past two years.
Norman is survived by his wife, Margaret Eastman; his son, Brent (Karel) Eastman of Six Lakes; daughters, Rita Eastman-Tyrrell of Midland and Riva (Bill) Eastman-Torres of Gladwin; seven grandchildren, Karla (Jason) Kennedy, Tonya Devericks, Heidi (Rob) Sherwood, Chris (Gretchen) Torres, Tory (Amy) Tyrrell , Kari (Brett) Warland and Andy B. Eastman; and twenty great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Norma (John) Ritter of Beaverton; brother, Nile Eastman of Breckenridge; sisters in law, Ruby Eastman of St. Louis and Marion Gray Cook. He was predeceased by his parents and a brother, Hugh Eastman.
