Norman Sidney “Willie” Kivett, 85, of Ramseur, died Thursday, November 30, 2017 at his residence.
Norman was born October 19, 1932 in Randolph County, the son of the late Hubert Reece and Cleta Poole Kivett. He graduated in 1950 from Ramseur High School and served in the U.S. Army in Korea during the Korean Conflict. He was an employee of Energizer and retired with 40 years company service.
Norman was a member of Holly Spring Friends Meeting.
Norman was an avid sports fan. He followed NC State basketball and football and the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team from his teenage years. His love of baseball was carried into 15 years as a Little League baseball coach where the love of baseball was passed on to “his boys”. He enjoyed following the youth into their adult lives and could always tell some funny incident about each one as their names were remembered. He was preceded in death by an infant son.
Survivors: wife of 53 years, Joyce Kearns Kivett, of the home, son, Mark Steven Kivett, and wife, Kimberly, of Port Orchard, Washington, daughters, Norma Kivett Jones, and husband, Rodney, of Asheboro, Pamela Kivett, of Ramseur, brother, Jerry Reece Kivett, and wife, Wilma, of Ramseur, grandchildren, Jacob Sidney Jones, Kara Rachel Jones, Isabella Grace Surmont, his inlaw’s, Curtis and Carrie Kearns, Lester and Patricia K. McBride, Charles and Brenda K. Monroe, Tommy and Carol K. Watson, many nieces and nephews.
