Norman “Shorty” Swalve, 86, of Ocheyedan passed away on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at Accura Healthcare Center in Milford. Norman was born on September 5, 1931 in Ocheyedan to Charles and Alice (Pedley) Swalve. He graduated from high school in Ocheyedan. During his adult years, Norman worked as a Bartender, Construction in Kansas City and most recently for the Okoboji View Golf Course. He enjoyed gardening and working on cars. He took great pride and joy taking care of his Model A. He is survived by his 6 siblings, Mary Swalve of Ocheyedan; Roger (Frances) Swalve of Arnolds Park; Karen Swalve of Ocheyedan; Jan (Marc) Nielson of Spirit Lake; Allen “Pee Wee” Swalve of Milford; and Debra Gettner of Sioux City and many nieces and nephews. Norman was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Dwaine.
