Norman R. “Norm” Hoube, age 85, of Geneva, passed away Saturday, November 13, 2021, at Delnor Hospital with his loving family by his side.
He was born June 1, 1936 in Chicago, the son of Joseph and Caroline (Fritz) Hoube.
Norm attended Lane Tech High School in Chicago followed by the University of Illinois in Champaign where he received a BS in Management. He was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon social fraternity.
He began his career as an auditor for the Tumpane Company in Ankara, Turkey, then returning to the University of Illinois for a second BS in Accountancy. He later went to work for GTE Automatic Electric where he rose to the position of Manager of Information Systems.
He worked as a computer consultant to the Manufacturing Industry for twenty years. In that capacity he traveled all over the United States and into Mexico and Canada.
After retirement he taught Information Systems and personal computers at several educational institutions. He always had time to help people with their computer problems and built several of their home computers from parts. He enjoyed being the operating system guru in several computer clubs.
He married Joanne Walter in Ankara on January 7, 1959, honeymooning in Switzerland and Rome. They enjoyed traveling in Europe. Norm and Joanne have lived in Elmhurst, St. Charles, Geneva, Cary, NC, and The Villages of Florida.
He is survived by the three loves of his life, his wife Joanne and his sons Michael of Princeton, WI and Christopher of Geneva; and many other dear relatives and friends.
Norm was preceded in death by his parents.
