Norman (Swede) Edward Carlson.
Mr Carlson, 81, went home to be with his Lord August 2, 2018. He had called Colorado Springs home since 1965 even while spending time in Greenland and Alaska.
He was born in Everett, Washington, spending his formative years in the mountain areas near and in the town of Index. His father, Chester B. Carlson, worked in the shipyards during WWII and then became a hard rock miner eventually became a bookkeeper for a cement company. His mother, Doris Matheson Carlson was a nurse treating those living near Index, Washington. Both preceeded Swede in death.
Swede attended the University of Washington. He then worked for several defense contractors on Ballistic Early Warning Systems where he spent the majority of his working career. During that time he came to know The Lord and his focus changed. He attended Seminary in Portland, OR.
He loved the mountains. He was an excellent fly fisherman and spent a lot of time at Mysterious Lake in the mountains north of Gunnison, CO. He was a ski instructor at Monarch and Ski Cooper and an artist with the trumpet and the fly rod.
In 1957 he married Patricia Kay Anderson. That union produced four children, Kristofer (Susanna), Kimberly (Steve Bentz), Kenneth (Karen), and Kathryn (Glenn Hodge). He had eight grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.
