Norman C. Sloat, 62, of Coal Valley Road, Emlenton, Clinton Twp, Venango County died at 9:30 a.m. Friday, June 19, 2009 at his residence following an extended illness. Mr. Sloan was born in Clarion County on April 17, 1947. He was the son of Norman M. Sloat of Emlenton and the late Louise M. Smith Sloat. Mr. Sloat was a 1966 graduate of A-C Valley High School in Foxburg and he was a United States Navy Veteran, having served a tour of duty in Vietnam. He was a member of the Foxburg American Legion, Miller-Rankin Post # 636. Mr. Sloat was a commercial truck driver and worked for Venco Trucking in Emlenton. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golfing. In addition to his father, he is survived by a son, Norman P. Sloat, of Emlenton, a brother, James P. Sloat, of Knox, and two sisters, Nancy Harless and her husband Robert, of Harrisville and Cheryl Hindman, of Clintonville. A number of nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive. Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m.
