Norman Edward “Butch” Matthews Jr., age 58, of Odin, passed away Monday, August 22, 2016 at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, MO. Norman was born March 24, 1958 in Centralia the son of Norman Edward Matthews Sr. and Mary Jane (Roux) Matthews.
Norman is survived by his father Norman Matthews Sr. and Dottie Garren of Centralia, his mother Mary Jane Matthews of Centralia; one daughter: Brooke Helsing and Louis of Centralia; two sons: Shae Matthews and girlfriend Tonya Stock of Centralia, Justin Matthews and Fiancé Dayna Jones of Centralia; two step-brothers: Dusty Garren and Nicole of Centralia, Bradley Blackman and Berkeley of Centralia; six grandchildren: Nevaeh Helsing, Olivia Helsing, Mairin Matthews, Maddox Matthews, Greyson Matthews, and Peyton Stock; one sister: Robbyin Etheridge and Randy “Bear” of Centralia; three nephews: Brannon Etheridge and Sandra Woods of Centralia, Ty Etheridge, Travis Etheridge and Anica of Centralia; one niece: Chelsey Davis and Ben of Centralia; many aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Jasper and Jennie Matthews. Butch enjoyed hunting and fishing. He worked as a brick layer for 40 plus years. Most of all he loved spending time with his family and friends.
