Norman A. Martin, 74
Norman A. Martin, 74, of Alamogordo, passed away Saturday, April 24, 2010 at this home.
He was born July 8, 1935 in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin to Louise Schmitt. He was married to Freda Rae Nell Harris on November 25, 1954 in Carlsbad, New Mexico.
He moved to Carlsbad, New Mexico as a child where he graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1953. He worked in the household goods moving business most of his life, including as Manager of Apaca Moving and Storage in Alamogordo beginning in 1973. He worked for Apaca until this year. He loved watching sports, talking politics, and walking the dogs.
For many years he coached Little League baseball, umpired baseball games, and refereed basketball games. He was an avid reader and worked crossword puzzles daily. He had taken up kayaking in the last few years.
He was preceded in death by his parents Dallas Martin and Louise (Schmitt) Martin, and his sister Patricia Moran.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-five years, Freda (Harris) Martin of the family home.
Survivors also include a sister, Sandra Farrell and husband Tom of Lubbock, Texas, and brother Dallas Martin and wife Joan of Carlsbad; daughter, Lea Ann Kershaw and husband Chad of Las Cruces; sons Bruce Martin and Randy Martin of Alamogordo; and Terry Martin and wife Mandana of San Jose, California; grandchildren, Amy, Zack and Alex Kershaw of Las Cruces; Myka and Kian Martin of San Jose, California.
