I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.
Norma J. Johnson, age 67, was born October 26, 1954 in Birmingham, Alabama. She attended Mount Olive Baptist Church where she was baptized. Norma lived in Birmingham Alabama most of her life with her parents, the late Curtis and Hannah Galloway.
Norma attended Springdale High School on North Pine Hill Road where she graduated in 1971. Shortly after the passing of her dear parents, she decided to move to Columbus Ohio, where she then resided for 41 years with the love of her life, Eugene Johnson, Sr. Norma was an awesome mother and an amazing homemaker to two young men, Desmond Nigel Galloway, Sr. (oldest) and Eugene Johnson, Jr. (JJ) the baby. She was also a great stepmother to Atiya Thomas and foster daughter Jayden Welborn. Norma was a foster parent for many years.
Norma also retired from City of Columbus, Ohio public schools in 2019. Norma knew she had many nieces and nephews that loved her dearly. She was like a mother to several of them and she made sure they did not forget, as we know Norma was not to be played with, because she was plus plus no subtraction so lets all celebrate God allowing her to be a soldier in the army of the Lord.
At St. Ann’s Hospital God decided to call his precious daughter home peacefully on October 23, 2021, after sharing Norma with us for 9 more years after her health started to fail her. She is preceded in death by Raymond (Cleo) Hutchinson, Earnest Galloway, Nathan Galloway and Calvin Galloway. She is also preceded in death by her dearest best friend (God sister) Charlotte Leigh.
Leaving behind to cherish her memories are her, Goddaughter Kisha Alexander, sister’s Wilma (Missy) Brackett, Princella Edward and brother Edward (Earl), and Sarah Galloway. She is now an angel to seven Granddaughters, and four Grandsons who she wishes nothing but the best for. She has a host of many great Nephews and Nieces.
