Passed away on Thursday, June 29, 2017 at the age of 79. Norma was born in Kalamazoo on July 10, 1937, the daughter of the late Dayton and Edith (Cripe) Simmons. She attended Kalamazoo College. She retired from Consumers Energy after twenty six years of service.
She was a member of Lutheran Church of the Savior. She was a strong advocate for those with special needs and was a master gardener. She is survived by one son, William M. (Debra) Schmidt; five grandchildren, Laurie (Ricky) Tabor, Melissa (Bobby) Todd, Denny (Tara) Todd, Matthew (Mila) Todd and Sean Todd; eight great-grandchildren and another expected soon; one brother, Donald R. (Nancy) Simmons. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Jeannine M. Schmidt; and one grandson, Mark Schmidt; and her husband, Glenn Loughridge. Norma is also survived by Glenn’s children, Ann, Lori and Jon (Paula) Loughridge.
