Norma Jean Fox Sanders, 75, Anderson, died peacefully January 23, 2004 at her home after an extended illness. She was born August 10, 1928 in Cicero, Indiana, and was an Anderson resident for most of her life. She was a homemaker and had been employed in the 1980’s by Mounds State Park. She was known there and at her church as the ”Flower Lady.”
She was a 1946 graduate of Anderson High School. She was a longtime member of New Horizons United Methodist Church. She was an avid flower gardener. She is survived by her husband whom she married July 3, 1947 in Anderson, Donald E. Sanders; two daughters, Annalei & husband Bruce Johnson of Greenwood and Lydia & husband Daniel Leonard of Huntington; two brothers, Joe T. & wife Emma Jean Fox of Beavercreek, Ohio and Michael L. Fox & Sharon Fannin of Anderson; five grandchildren, Rachel Kenji Kita, Julia Leonard, David & wife Sonda Leonard, Bryce Johnson and Brynn Johnson; one great granddaughter, Jennifer Leonard.
The family would like to acknowledge the staff of Anderson Cancer Center and St. John’s Hospital for their support and kindness during Norma’s illness, those wonderful nurses, Belinda and Mary, Dr. Currier, Dr. Gillette, Dr. Bright, Dr. Blevins, Lori and especially Liz of Hospice for making Norma’s last hours as comfortable as possible. Thanks to all of you. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe D. & Pauline Ziegler Fox.
