Norma Jean Larson, of Mallard passed away Saturday, August 28, 2021, at the West Bend Care Center. Norma Jean was born October 5, 1929 in Storm Lake, Iowa, to Charles H. and Gladys A. (Forsyth) McCullough. She received her education in the Pocahontas Community Schools until her sophomore year. At that time, she and her parents moved to a farm in Mallard, Iowa. Norma Jean finished her last two years of high school at Mallard Community School, graduating in 1947. In 1949, Norma married Ted Larson. They raised five children, four boys and one girl, in Mallard. Norma did the bookwork for Larson Oil Corporation for many years. She loved to play golf. She played in many tournaments with her women friends and also played in couples’ tournaments with Ted. Thursday morning Curlew Coffee group was very important to Norma, she didn’t want to miss it. She loved family gatherings, working on jigsaw puzzles, and her beloved Iowa Hawkeyes. She was a member of the Mallard United Methodist Church, the UMW, and the Spring Hills Ladies Group. Survivors include sons, Rick (Linda) Larson of Branson, Missouri, Mike (Joy) Larson of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; daughters-in-law, Richelle Larson of Mallard, Iowa and Mary Ann Larson of Winona, Minnesota; and sister-in-law, Anne Larson. Grandchildren, Angi (Sal) Bautista, Lindsay (Matt) Sanders, Molly Larson, Troy (Angela) Larson, Tamela (Chad) Milbrandt, Callie (David) Thomas, Matt Christiansen, Brandon Friedlander, Heather (Chad) Hanson, Shawn Larson, Corey (Abby) Brown, Abbey Brown, Brian (Elizabeth) Brown; many great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ted; parents, Charles and Gladys; sons, Mark and Ronald, and daughter, Colleen; two sisters-in-law, and three brothers-in-law.
