Norma “Jean” Hamilton was born on November 26, 1930, in Wellington, Kansas. She was the daughter of Oliver L. & Faye Lucile (Hoyt) Bistline. She graduated from High School in Windsor, Colorado and married her High School sweetheart Richard “Dick” Hamilton. Early in her career Jean worked in the newspaper business with her father and mother who owned several small town newspapers in Kansas and Colorado. Her father bought The Poudre Valley newspaper in Windsor CO and Jean had her own column reporting on current events. Lewis changed the name of the paper to the Windsor Beacon and that name remains the same today. Jean worked as a Proof Reader for the Greeley Tribune where her father worked as a typesetter.
Dick and Jean married in October of 1950 and lived in California where they had two daughters, Sue and Debbie, while Dick served in the Marine Corps.
