Norma Hughes, 97, went to be with the Lord, Saturday, November 5, 2011, at WillowbendLivingCenter. She was born January 29, 1914, in Milgrove, IN, the daughter of John A. and Letha (Hiatt) Gray. She attended CenterSchool and WilsonJunior High School.
Mrs. Hughes was formerly employed at Ball Brothers, MuncieCommunitySchools, and the Gold Room Dress Shop.
Surviving are three sons, Richard Darrel Hughes, (wife, Carolyn), Selma, Larry Dwain Hughes, (wife, Judy), Farmland, Steven Alan Hughes, (wife, Marcia), Muncie; her daughter, Carolyn Sue Bird, Muncie; two sisters, Bertha Jenkinson and Janet Montgomery, both of Muncie; nine grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marshall Watt Hughes, to whom she had been married seventy-one years, who died in 2004; and two brothers, Melvin E. and Kenneth H. Gray.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the caring and compassionate WillowbendLivingCenter, the Hospice Group, and Dr. Bahrami.
