Norma Chesser, 77, of Galien, Michigan, died Wednesday morning, January 19, 2005, at Memorial Hospital of South Bend, Indiana. Norma was born February 11, 1927, in Palestine, Illinois to Alva and Hazel (Staten) Knoblett.

She graduated from Palestine High School in 1945. Norma moved to the Galien area in the early 1950s, and on March 7, 1952, she married Ernest D. Chesser in South Bend, Indiana. She was a loving mother who enjoyed being a Brownie and Girl Scout leader as well as serving as a homeroom mother while raising her children. She was a devoted and loving grandmother, attending her grandchildren’s concerts and activities. Norma was creative and enjoyed decorating and making holiday treats for Nursing Home residents. She was a good cook who insisted on cooking from scratch and processed much of her own food from her husband’s garden. Norma also was an avid reader and was interested in watching the birds and butterflies.

Survivors include her husband, Ernest D. Chesser; children, Doug (Eileen) Chesser of Stevensville, Michigan; Sue Chesser of Buchanan, Michigan and Deb Chesser of Coloma, Michigan; grandchildren, Will, Mike, David, Theresa, Tony, and Angela.
