Noreen M. Tomaino Noreen M. Tomaino, age 64, a retired Reading Specialist and Teacher of the Danbury Board of Education, died Saturday, August 31, 2013 at the Danbury Hospital. Born in Danbury, CT March 21, 1949, she was the devoted daughter of the late Fred and Grace (Nero) Tomaino, and the Granddaughter of Joseph and Mary Elisa Nero. Noreen graduated from Immaculate High School (Class of ’66), attended UCONN and studied Bachelor of Arts at Sacred Heart University. Following the footsteps of her mother, Noreen invested in the youth of Danbury by working as a teacher. She was very proud of her students who referred to her as ‘Misses T’. Although she had no children of her own, she thought of her students as family and adopted others along the way. Noreen’s father was e a Fire Marshall of Danbury, while her grandparents owned Nero’s Paint Store for many years. Her friends brought her such joy and although she was a smart aleck, Noreen deeply loved each one of them, especially her life long friend Sister Helen Blodgett. The daily antics of her dog Dunkin, named after her favorite iced coffee drink, made her laugh. Noreen played the lotto and was a die-hard fan of the UCONN women’s basketball team. Noreen enjoyed playing at Foxwood, seeing plays in New York and taking cruises. Noreen was dedicated to maintaining her family’s Italian heritage. She dutifully maintained and passed along family recipes, stories and treasures. Her ragu was traditional, she spoke Italian and she delighted in attending holiday meals where she enjoyed precious time with the family she loved dearly. Noreen faithfully attended the St.
