Mr. Norbert (Bert) Theodore Schmitz, age 72, of Sharpsburg, GA passed away Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at his home. Mr. Schmitz was born January 27, 1944 in Perryville, MO to the late Norbert Frank Schmitz and Germaine Trimberger Schmitz. He obtained his Master’s Degree from the Milwaukee School of Engineering. Bert worked at Johnson Controls as an engineer and later became a plant manager. He was the President of the Newnan Rotary Club from 1995-1996. Bert’s favorite pastimes were watching the Green Bay Packers and participating in shooting sports.
Survivors include his loving wife of 54 years, Jane Schmitz, two sons and their spouses, Norbert (Bert) Andrew Schmitz and his wife Marie of North Carolina and Jeffrey Allen Schmitz and his wife Angie of Illinois; four grandchildren, Emily, Morgan, Kelly, and Tom; and one great grandchild, Sebastian.
