Norbert ‘Shorty’ Neal Nekl, age 95, of Shelby, Nebraska passed away June 26, 2020 at David Place in David City, Nebraska.
Norbert was born June 4, 1925 in David City, Nebraska to James Joseph and Nettie (Fucek) Nekl. He graduated from Rising City High School and began farming with his father and brothers in the Rising City area.
On June 13, 1946 he was united in marriage to Doris Ann Huddelston. To this union seven children were born.
Norbert spent his entire life farming. He enjoyed music, playing piano, dancing and singing. He also enjoyed woodworking and was especially proud of the guns stocks he made over the years.
In 2010 he moved to Shelby where he lived until September 2018 when he moved to David Place where he resided until his passing.
Survivors include his children: Roger of Minnetonka, MN, Chris (Ken) Scholz of Kansas City, MO, Tim (Bev) of Rising City, Melanie (Dave) Wyman of Simpsonville, SC, Tad (Jennifer) of Rising City, Tyler of Shelby; fifteen grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Michelle; sisters: Mildred, Cecelia, Mary and Rose; brothers: George, Robert, James, Ralph, Bill, Nick (Gramps) and special friend Norma Krumbach.
