The daughter of the late George Aaron and Dora Lucille (Owens) Tanner, Nona Ruth was born on August 22, 1934 at Abner, Oklahoma. She passed away August 24, 2020 in a Norman, Oklahoma hospital, having just celebrated her 86th birthday.
A life-long resident of Ardmore, Nona was a graduate of Ardmore High School. She and Albert Walter Evitts were married November 12, 1981 in Ardmore. Nona and Al had a collaborative and caring relationship. It was based on mutual support and a deep love for each other. They were married for thirty-three years when Al preceded her in death, April 13, 2015.
Nona was a Senior Interviewer with the Oklahoma State Employment Service, until she retired. Nona enjoyed life, family and her many friends. She was always there to brighten the lives of others.
In her leisure time Nona enjoyed counted cross-stitch, NASCAR races, and was very fond of her feline pets. Being a part of the Ardmore community was one of her greatest joys and it was said that retail shopping was her therapy.
Nona is now reunited with her parents and husband, her two sons, William Michael Harrison and John Aaron Harrison; and her brothers, Fred, Jack and Charles Tanner, Sr. who preceded her in death. She is survived by a host of nieces, nephews and other extended family.
