NOLAN C. RICHINS            May 12, 1936 – August 29, 2021

Surrounded by his children, Nolan C. Richins, age 85, returned home on Sunday, August 29, 2021 to his sweetheart Barbara, his parents, and sister Judy.

Nolan was born on May 12, 1936 in Ogden, Utah to Hilda Rehan and Orville Fowler Richins.  Nolan lived in Henefer, Utah until he was 6 years old and then his family moved to Ogden. He loved to hunt and fish and hang out with friends.

He was raised in Ogden and graduated in 1954 from the first graduating class of Ben Lomond High School and LDS Seminary.

During his senior year he dated and quickly fell in love with Barbara Ann Chase.  Nolan joined the Navy shortly after graduating. In August 1954 he went to boot camp in California while waiting for Barbara to graduate high school.

On November 18, 1955, Nolan married his high school sweetheart, Barbara Ann Chase in the Salt Lake Temple.  After they married, they moved to San Diego while Nolan served in the Navy.

Nolan served on the USS “Oriskany” CV A-34 (attack aircraft carrier).

He had many experiences in the Navy that helped build his character such as loyalty, work ethic, service, and love for God and his country.  After 4 years of service Nolan was Honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy in August 1958 (post Korean War Veteran).

After he was discharged, Nolan and Barbara moved from California back to Utah where they lived in Ogden, Sunset, and then Roy where they raised their family.  Nolan has lived in his Roy home for 59 years.

Nolan graduated from Weber State College with a B.S. Degree in Business.  He worked for Del Monte Corporation for 5 years as an accountant and then Hill Air Force Base for 27 years and retired in March 1993 as a Division Chief of Cost and Management Analysis.

He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  Serving in many various Church callings.

He is also a Great Grandson of Aurelia Spencer Rogers, who organized the “First” Primary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Nolan had a great sense of humor.  He always enjoyed putting up lights among other decor outside of his house, depending on the holiday.

Nolan had a great Love for his dog “Sammy”.  She was truly a light to him in his life.  Mom and Dad both loved Sammy but especially, in his years after mom had passed, Sammy was a great comfort to him.

Nolan loved his Family!  Things we will all remember…..

Nolan’s willingness to help anyone, anytime and his selfless love for his family, especially for Barbara, was truly remarkable.

He will be dearly missed by all who knew him especially his children:  Bruce (Ann) Richins, of Farr West; Lynda (Dave) Johnson, of Roy; Todd (Dawn) Richins of Harrisville; Christy (Mike) Koford of Farr West; 13 Grandchildren, and 15 Great-Grand Children.  He is also survived by his brother: Roger (Janet) Richins & Clair Barrow (brother-in-law).
