Nita C. (Van Meter) Clendenen, 53, passed away Friday August 23, 2013, at her residence in Franklin. Nita was born May 21, 1960, in Franklin, the daughter of the late Dolphus and Wanda (Lawson) Van Meter.
She was employed as a manager with Murphy’s USA gas station for 7 years and prior to that she was a manager at the Clark gas station in Franklin. Nita enjoyed collecting dolls.
She is survived by her partner, lover, and best friend of 30 years, Jerry Wright of Franklin, three daughters, Tara (Josh) Clendenen, April (Paul) Sneed, and Brandy (Danny) Grass all of Franklin, three sons, Jason (Kari) Clendenen of Greenwood, Jerry Wright Jr. and Kerry (Kim) Wright both of Trafalgar; 18 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; a sister, Sheila (Ed) Hendrickson of Franklin and a brother, Keith Van Meter of Franklin.
