Ninfa Quas, beloved mother, grandmother, and aunt, passed away peacefully on April 18th after a three-year battle with dementia.
Ninfa Quas, nee Peresson, was born on February 27, 1931, in Pielungo, Italy to Basilio and Albina Peresson, nee Cedolin, and was a dear sister to her brothers, the late Sisto and Ivo. Ninfa is predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Aldo Quas.
In 1952, Ninfa and Aldo were wed and two years later, came to the US on the Andrea Doria with their two sons at the time, to Peekskill, New York where they raised their family.
Ninfa was instilled at a young age the importance of hard work and grit by her family, and she took much pride in her Italian cooking and Sunday family dinners. She brought this mindset into her work where she served Dr. David Scuccimarra and his wife in their home as a housekeeper and cook; she also worked at St. Joseph’s home in Peekskill, NY.
She was a devout Catholic who walked to the Assumption Church every Sunday to practice her faith, until her move to North Carolina in 2012.
Ninfa was a beloved mother to Luciano (Claudia) Quas, the late Antonio (Lauren) Quas, and Richard Quas; a loving “Nonna” to six grandchildren; Taylor, Jessica, Stephen, Adam, Ryan and Robert, and three great grandchildren, Cameron, Cason and Evan. She is also remembered fondly by many nieces and nephews.
Nonna’s laugh, smile, fun-loving spirit, and incredible talent for cooking delicious gnocchi, meatballs, and sauce, will be greatly missed. She leaves behind an admirable legacy of strength, determination, and hard work that will carry-on through her children and grandchildren.
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital would be greatly appreciated.
