Nils Buck Barto, 48, of Spring Valley, passed away at 3:55 p.m. Friday, July 3, 2009 at Heartland Health Care of Henry. Buck was born on August 4, 1960 in Peru, Illinois to Nils and Donna (Bradley) Barto. He graduated from LP High School in 1978.
He was a proud Para-Transit Driver for St. Margarets Hospital in Spring Valley, Illinois. Buck was a devoted member of the City of Peru Emergency Services & Disaster Agency for the past 5 years. Buck was an Amateur Radio Operator (N9PLJ) for 17 years. He was President of Illinois Valley Radio Association, Vice President of Tri-County Amateur Radio Society, and a member of the Red Covered Bridge Radio Club, Green Bay Mic and Key Club and Tearug Radio Club.
He had also been a member of Starved Rock Radio Club and the Streator Amateur Radio Club. He married Evelyn Lally on February 14, 1995 at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Barto; his parents, Nils and Donna Barto of Peru, Illinois; his wifes parents, Nora Schultz and Christopher Miller of Grand Rapids, Michigan and John and Sue Lally of San Clemente, California; his Aunts, Linda (James) Sorrentino, Marge Bradley, both of Peru, Illinois, and Patricia (Robert) Toner of Standard, Illinois; also, 16 nieces and nephews, numerous cousins and even more friends. He is preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents, two uncles, one aunt and one cousin.
