She marriedBalys Poskus in Heidelberg,Germany on September 28, 1946.They emigrated to the UnitedStates in 1949 and eventuallysettled in Kankakee, Illinois, whereher husband was a physician. Shedied on August 20, 2015 in Boerne,Texas.Preceded in death by her husbandand her sister, Liuda Gvildys-Ycas,Nijole is survived by her children,Peter Poskus of Melbourne,Florida, Bernard Poskus of Denver,Colorado, Teresa Poskus of SanAntonio, Texas, HelenPoskus-Schneider of Huntsville,Texas, Mary Poskus-Fell ofSteamboat Springs, Colorado, hergrandson, Craig Poskus of Spring,Texas, and her sister, Egle Aras ofThousand Oaks, California.Her children thank her for thestrength, character and love shegave them, and say, “we willalways remember you, Mother.”Peter, Bernard, Helen and Maryalso thank their sister Teresa forover 20 years of caregiving thatshe gave to their mother.A Mass of Rememberance will becelebrated on Friday, August 28,2015 at 11AM at Blessed JurgisMatulaitis Lithuanian CatholicChurch, 14915 127th Street,Lemont, Illinois 60439.
