Nida Lee Valenti of Beltsville, MD., died peacefully at the age of 91 on March 21, 2016, several days after experiencing a stroke. Nida was the beloved wife of the late Salvatore Charles Valenti and the devoted mother of 3 sons: Dr. Stephen Valenti (spouse Dr. Elizabeth Kingsley), Michael Valenti (Vickie Williams), and Gino Valenti (Gloria). She is also survived by her loving sisters, Hazel Brinkley and Nadine Jolly, 9 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her sisters, Iola Dean and Ruth Harward, and brother, James Reid Jackson. Nida was born on August 18, 1924, in Durham, North Carolina. She moved to Washington, D.C. in 1942 to work during World War II for the Veteran’s Administration. In 1948 she married her beloved Salvatore Charles, and after raising 3 sons worked 20 years for the Department of Agriculture. After Salvatore Charles passed in 2006, her final 10 years were spent bringing happiness and joy to her family and friends with her smiles, twinkling eyes, laughter and love. Her love was deep and strong and a constant source of kindness and compassion for all those whose lives she touched.
