Nicole D. Mossburg Goetz, 28, died on Saturday, June 20, 2009, at 11:56 p.m. at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne. Nicole lost her lifelong battle with Cystic Fibrosis.
Ms. Goetz was born July 8, 1980, in Bluffton, IN.
Nicole married Josh Goetz on December 9, 2006 in Huntington, Indiana at the Union Church where they both are members. He survives in Huntington.
Ms. Goetz graduated from Huntington North High School in 1998. She enjoyed writing, hanging out with her friends and being with her family. She also enjoyed traveling and going to different places. She was an advocate for Cystic Fibrosis. She enjoyed telling others and educating them on her illness. She started an online support group for newly diagnosed children and their parents.
Additional survivors include her mother and father: Carol A. and Timothy E. Whiteman; her Grandmothers Dixie L. Dowel, Syracuse, and Naoma Whiteman Huntington; a Great Grandmother: Mary L. Slagal, Columbia City; an aunt: Nancy Zotek; a brother: Adam E. Whiteman, Warren; a sister: Amy Marie Lopes along with her husband Joseph Lopes, and a niece: Shealee Whiteman, South Portland, ME; three nieces: Morgan Goetz, Josie Goetz, and Merri Goetz and several other family members. She had a special lifelong friend: Melinda (Shively) Higleford, Huntington. She is survived by her paternal father: Donald E. Mossburg I, and a step-brother: J. J. Mossburg.
A step-brother: Donald E. Mossburg III proceeded her in death.
