Nicola Tranchitella passed away unexpectedly on August 4, 2017 at his home in Clarksville, MD. He was born on August 7, 1932 in Washington, D.C. Nick was a graduate of Roosevelt High School in D.C., and earned a B.S. in Business from Indiana University, Bloomington in 1954. He
continued his studies at George Washington University School of Law.
Nick served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He became a CPA and worked at Ernst and Young from 1956-1967. He went on to work at St. Agnes Hospital, Baltimore MD, where he retired as the Vice President and
Chief Financial Officer after 24 years of service.
Nick volunteered for many organizations including service on the Board of Trustees for Archbishop Keough High School and Jenkins Memorial Nursing Home, and was one of the initial Pastoral Council members at St. Louis Church. Nick was active in the Knights of Columbus as a 4th Degree Knight at St. Louis the King Council No. 11898, Clarksville, MD.
Nick is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Willa (Vanatta). He was a loving father of five children, Christopher Tranchitella, Kimberlyn Madden
(Patrick), Karen Tasto (Joe), Lynda Turner (Andrew), loving ‘Pop Pop’ to grandchildren, Erin, Brendan, Melissa, Nicole, Ben, Jacob, Grace, Ryan, Ava, Clara, and Elsa; and brother to Catherine Daugherty. He is preceded in death by his loving daughter, Andrea Janine Fields, his brother, Vincent,
and his parents, Vincent and Louise.
Nick was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who shared his love of God, Country, and Family with everyone he encountered. He believed in the importance of education, self-reliance, honor, integrity and moral living
with a strong work ethic.
