Nicholas J. Heidy, former longtime Silverton and Durango, Colorado resident, died August 28, 2011 in Chandler, Arizona. He was 87.
Dr. Heidy was born in Chicago, Illinois on December 8, 1923. He entered the U.S. Army in February 1943 and served for three years during WWII. He was initially sent to Washington D.C. for training, where he met his future wife, Helen Savich of Silverton, Colorado, who worked at the Pentagon.
