Nicholas Alex Kokles, Jr. passed away on March 16, 2012. Nick was born on August 13, 1922 in Dallas, Texas to Nicholas A. and Anna Leito Kokles. A graduate of North Dallas High School, Nick went on to study at Texas A&M. His education was interrupted by WWII where he served in the Quartermaster Corps in France. Near the end of the war, Nick served as the commander of Depot 10, a Japanese Prisoner of War Camp in the Philippines. He was proud to be among the Aggies who gathered for Aggie Muster at Corregidor in 1946. Upon returning home, he was determined to complete his education at Texas A&M, where he earned a degree in accounting. In addition, he moved to Dallas and met his wife of 50+ years, Norma Berry. Nick continued to serve in the Army Reserves and retired at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. For most of his career, Nick worked as sales manager at Berry Brothers Machinery Company. A lover of practical jokes, Nick will be remembered for his mischievous humor. He was a member of Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church and the Texas A&M Twelfth Man Foundation. He is survived by his son, Kim Kokles and wife Mary of Rockwall, Texas; daughter Karen Kokles Akin and husband Doug of Little Rock, AR; grandchildren Sarah and Jordan Akin; nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
