Neville Grove “N.G.” Norton, Jr., age 83, of Belton. Mr. Norton died Wednesday in a Temple hospital. He was born April 16, 1929 in Alice, Texas. He spent the majority of his early years growing up in Freer. He graduated from Alice High School. He attended Texas A&I University where he received a Bachelor of Science degree.
Following college he entered the U.S. Army where he became a career soldier retiring as a Lt. Colonel in 1979. He married Gloria Wanda Carroll on September 20, 1953 in Louisville, Kentucky. Following her death he married Betty Wagner on May 21, 1976 in Richmond, Texas. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Belton and served as a deacon and taught Sunday school.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Norton of Belton, one son, Stuart Wagner of Blanco, three daughters, Terri Covington and Vicki Wetherbee both of Belton and Sheryl Navarro of San Angelo, 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
