One author stated, author has said:”Dying, Christ destroyed our death. Rising, Christ restored our life. Christ will come in glory.” So Christ has come and claimed His own. A kind and gracious Christian lady, Mrs. Nettie Burks Wynn, was born June 8, 1931, in Morgan County, AL. She was the 10th of 14 siblings, born to Elder William McKinley Burks, I. and Louisiana Sandifer Burks. She transitioned as she had lived peacefully and with her God.
The Confession of Faith of the CPC states, “Elders are the immediate representatives of the people, elected by them to share with ministers in the government and leadership of the church.” In April 2003, Nettie accepted the charge to serve as an elder at St. James CPC and devoutly represented the people. Additionally, she served the CPC on the local, state, and national levels; many times, she traveled from Texas to Michigan as a commissioner to the General Assembly. Her community involvements were numerous.
She was married to Steve Wynn, Jr. and they owned the Wynn Service Store for a number of years. The joy of her life was her daughter, Vickie Turner; both Vickie and Steve predeceased her. Everlasting memories will be cherished by her grandchildren: Jessica Turner, Birmingham, AL; Roderick Turner, Huntsville, AL; five sisters: Margaret B. Ruffin and Elove Johnson, New Orleans, LA; Anne B. Edmonds, Decatur, AL; Doris B. Curry and Evelyn B. Robinson, Akron, OH; one brother: Edward Burks, Cleveland, OH; two sisters-in-law, Mary Burks, Cleveland, OH and Darlene Wynn, Decatur, AL; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends.
