Nettie C. Banwart, 87 of West Bend died Monday September 10, 2012 at the West Bend Care Center.
Nettie Caroline Banwart, the daughter of Ernst and Caroline (Feucht) Knobloch was born November 15, 1924. She attended country school through the 8th grade. In later years, she achieved her high school equivalency certificate in 1971. For years Nettie assisted many families during childbirth or times of illness as a caregiver, whenever there was a need. She also worked many years as a cook at the Rock Rapids Community Hospital.
In 1974 Nettie was united in marriage to Ervin J. Banwart, at Larchwood, IA and they lived their lives in West Bend, IA. Nettie enjoyed her family, as well as gardening, hand-sewing, and volunteering. She became a member of the Apostolic Christian Church in 2010.
Survivors incude her husband of 38 years Ervin, of West Bend, IA, daughter Charlotte (Marvin) Fehr, 7 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, sisters Frieda Gerber and Elsie Leuthold and brother Ezra (Marie) Knoblock, as well as her many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Clarence, Otto, Carl, Walter and Alvin, and sister Clara. Nettie battled cancer since 1996 and her quiet and enduring demeanor exemplified, and set an example to those around her.
