Glennon J. “Shorty” Netemeyer, 72, of New Baden, died Thursday, April 19, 2012 at Clinton Manor Living Center in New Baden. He was born July 8, 1939 in New Baden, son of George M. and Elsie (Wobbe) Netemeyer. He married Barbara Hechenberger on July 12, 1974 in Carlyle and she survives in New Baden.
He is survived by his wife, Barb Netemeyer of New Baden; his children, Sandra (Ken) Maue of New Baden and Charles (Catlin) Horn of Belleville; five grandchildren, Michael Cave, Allysa Maue, Nicole Manley, Damian Horn, and Tristan Horn; one great-granddaughter, Lillian Cave; two sisters, Franny Stempel and Jane (Don) Fuhler all of New Baden; and his twin brother, Vernon Netemeyer of New Baden. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Cletus Stempel.
Mr. Netemeyer was a molder and laborer at Modern Foundry in Mascoutah and a veteran of the United States Army. He was a member of St. George Parish, the American Legion Post 321 in New Baden, a charter member of the New Baden Jaycees, a former Cub Scout and Webelo Leader, a former New Baden volunteer fireman, and a member of the M.I.R.A – G.M.T.A. and Allied Workers Union. He was an avid Cardinals fan and bowler.
