Nestor Hinojos, from Hobbs, passed from this earthly life Sunday, Oct. 30th, 2022, over to eternal life with our Lord Jesus Christ and all the loved ones that went before him. He was born February 26th, 1938, in Ruidosa, Tx. He was the eldest son of 7 children to Mariano and Margarita Hinojos. The family later moved to Artesia, NM where Nestor later met and married his beautiful wife of 64 years Mary Helen Garcia. Several years later Nestor and his bride settled in Hobbs where he made many friends, raised his family, and began his long career in the oil and gas industry.
Nestor enjoyed many outdoor activities like hunting and spent most every year with his dad, brothers, sons, and nephews walking the Guadalupe Mountains looking for that elusive, big buck. He loved to go camping and fishing as often as possible in Ruidoso and Silver Lake, New Mexico. He was also known to have made the best Asado in the world! (Of course, we are a bit biased)
Nestor had many accomplishments throughout his life, but his family was his true pride and joy. He was devoted to family from the beginning with his mom, dad, sister Alice Bustamante, and brothers Manuel, Chico, Mariano, Juan and Domingo Hinojos. He carried on his faithfulness to family by building cherished memories and an endless legacy with his wife Mary, 5 children Vangie, Nestor Jr., Robert, Ray, and Gilbert. He was a proud grandfather to 15 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and 3 great, great grandchildren.
He will always be remembered for his quick wit, making us laugh, his sharp memory (we had to go to him for dates we couldn’t remember), his ability to always know exactly what the weather would be that day, his love for gardening, his musical talent, and of course his unconditional love for his entire family.
