Mrs. Nerissa Emano Achas, 89, born on October 29, 1927, joined our Heavenly Father on Wednesday evening, March 8, 2017 at Baptist Medical Center South following a medical procedure prior to surgery. She was the daughter of the late Paulino Emano and Emilia Casino.
Nerissa was a devout Catholic and had a successful teaching career prior to emigrating from the Philippines to the USA. She made Jacksonville, FL, her home for more than 30 years.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Sheila Grace.
Nerissa is survived by her husband, Gerardo V. Achas; children, Nanette Grace Orpiano (Melchor “Choy”), Gerardo Achas, Jr., and Socorro Theresa Marcos (Rod); grandchildren, Cristina, Amiel, Andrew, Gerard (Ryan Marie), Raymond, Sean, Stephen, and Sheila; great grandchildren, Ayble and Noah; and former daughter-in-law, Sandy.
