On April 17, 2019, Nelson George Seiler, went home to be with the Lord.

Born 90 years before to Theodore O. and Virginia (nee Potee), in a rural home in Lansdowne, he would spend the fullness of his life in the Glen Burnie area until the passing of his parents.  He then purchased the home he grew up in, ultimately passing in the home of his birth.

When he was called to serve, Nelson faithfully answered his country’s call serving in the United States Army, 1st Cavalry Regiment in the Pacific Theatre during World War 2.  He was a crewman in an armoured reconnaissance vehicle until his separation in 1949 at Ft. Hood, Texas.

Nelson’s civilian career typically revolved around driving.  He was a member of the Teamsters Union #557 and drove trucks for various logistic operations until retiring in 1991.  Never one to let grass grow below his feet, Nelson would continue driving tour buses, limousines and work trucks the later  for American coffee.  Most notably he drove a transport vehicle for Harbor Hospitals’ Adult Daycare, remarkable in that he was older than most of the people he was charged with.  It was said, “retirement was not in his nature,” and Nelson stayed active right up to his illness.  “He was the hardest working person I knew,” remarked a friend.

When he was not engaged in serving others, Nelson enjoyed working in his wood shop.  He made many bird houses, many which survive to this day.

Nelson enjoyed travel and particularly liked going on cruises, times he shared with his dear wife of 69 years, Vivian (nee Cornette).  ” We had a good time,” she said, as she reflected on their life together.  “We had a good life,” she continued.

Surviving Nelson are his daughters, Cathy L. and husband Brian Zacko, E. Lorraine Young and Donna L. Seiler, sons Danny H. and wife Peggy and Nelson G. “Buddy,” Jr. and spouse Cheryl.  Nelson is finally reunited with  his beloved son “Teddy” Seiler in heaven.

Continuing his legacy are his loving grandchildren, Julie and Eric Seiler, Todd Mandley and wife Dunja, Nelson III, Stacy Seiler, Kimberly Warner and husband Scott, Christopher Finch and spouse Mary and Amanda Michael and spouse Jay.  He is preceded in passing by the dear, late Michael “Mikey” Sullivan.

His memory lives on in 18 great grandchildren, one brother, Theodore Seiler and wife Joan.  His beloved sister, the late Pearl and husband Charles Scruggs predeceased Nelson.

“He was an amazing father,” it was remarked and no doubt an equally devoted husband, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend.

He will be sorely missed………
