Nelson L. Kritzler 99

Of Kenton

Nelson L. Kritzler was born December 7, 1921 to Elmer and Mae Kritzler. Nelson passed away at his residence on January 7, 2021 at the young age of 99 years and one month.

Nelson married Doris Marie Kritzler on January 17, 1948, and she predeceased him on May 28, 2011. A brother, James Kritzler of Houston, TX also predeceased him. Surviving are two sons, Bruce N. (Leslie Bogart) Kritzler of Gainesville, FL. and Douglas W. Kritzler of Kenton; two daughters, Khristine Kritzler Pickering of Urbana, and Barbara (Mike) Markley of Beavercreek; five grandchildren, Mya (Mohamed) Jaradat, Rachel (Tim) Fulks, David (Clare)Pickering, and Johnnah (Keegan) D’Alfonso and Gabrielle Markley. Also four great-grandchildren, Christian and Clara Doris Fulks and Farah and Yasser Jaradat.

He attended Lafayette High School but graduated from Kenton High School in 1939. He was drafted into the Army during WWII and served three years until the end of the war. He was a supplies quartermaster and spent time in Italy and North Africa.

He was a dairy and grain farmer his entire life. He milked cows twice a day for thirty years showing his impressive work ethic. He enjoyed hunting fox in the wintertime when the pace of farm life slowed. He loved to read nonfiction books about history. He was an avid newspaper reader and subscribed to at least 4-5 papers at one time. He also loved looking at the atlas to locate places that he read or heard someone talking about around the USA. He loved attending his children’s and grandchildren’s school events. Attending different county fairs, traveling, potluck dinners and just taking long drives through the country was something he enjoyed with Doris, family or close friends. Angel food cake and ice cream were his delights.

The Kritzler family would like to thank Patti Douglas, his past caregiver and Kindred Hospice staff of Marion.
