NELLIE O’DONOHUE
“Grammy”
Nellie O’Donohue passed away peacefully on January 6, 2018 at her home in Bound Brook, where she had resided since 1965. Born and raised in Bound Brook, she was the daughter of the late Dominic and Josephine D’Alonzo. A graduate of Bound Brook High School (1951) and the College of Saint Elizabeth, Nellie taught Spanish at Middlesex High School for 30 years, from 1963-1993. Widowed at age 27, she devoted her life to raising her two children and becoming the beloved “Grammy” to her three grandchildren. After retirement, she enjoyed traveling with her wide circle of friends, going to the latest movies or shows at the State Theater, and dining at the Golden Corner. She was active at both Saint Joseph (Bound Brook) and Our Lady of Mount Virgin (Middlesex) parishes, as well as local senior groups.
Nellie is survived by her daughter, Denise O’Donohue Perone and her husband Raymond, of Bridgewater; her son, Jamie O’Donohue and his fiancée Marlyn Zucosky, of Hillsborough; and her grandchildren Nicole Perone, Jamie O’Donohue, and Cory O’Donohue, to whom she was fiercely devoted. She is also survived by a host of friends.
