Nellie was one of eleven, born to the late Dulcenie and John Hughes, in Northumberland County, Virginia, on June 15, 1930. She was a member of Colerain Baptist Church, in Colerain, North Carolina. Nellie enjoyed crocheting, painting artwork, gardening, and bird watching.
Nellie was predeceased by her beloved husband of 55 years, Clarence L. Dilday, and nine dear siblings. She is survived by her loving children, Bruce Dilday, Sherry Cunningham, and Bonnie Almasy; her eight cherished grandchildren; her sixteen beloved great-grandchildren; her dear sister, Alice Fallin; and many adored nieces and nephews.
