Neil Arnold “Jake” Jacobson, age 75, of Laporte, passed away on Friday, March 23, 2018 at the V.A. Health Care Facility in St. Cloud. Jake was born on December 14, 1942 in Owatonna, MN the son of Arnold and Bessie (Rogers) Jacobson.

Jake was a proud veteran.  He enjoyed much of his time hunting in Minnesota and Montana and fishing on Leech Lake.  Many evenings were spent by the campfire with family and friends after a day of fishing or cruising on the pontoon.  Jake loved going to the branding parties on the Burdick Ranch in Montana. His favorite place to vacation was the Black Hills of South Dakota where the family tried to go as often as they could. He and his sons enjoyed target shooting and playing pool together. Jake worked as a mechanical engineer for many years and taught engineering classes at St. Paul College. He started the Thief River Falls chapter of the MN Deer Hunters Association and later became the state secretary. Jake loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He will be missed by all his family and friends.

Jake is reunited with his parents; Arnold and Bessie Jacobson, grandparents, father-in-law, several uncles, aunts and cousins.

Those he leaves behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 40 years Shelley Jacobson, children; Denise (Jason) Westcott, Jeff (Clarine) Jacobson, Jon (Judy) Jacobson and Erik Jacobson, grandchildren; Ashley (Ben) Mannes, Courtney (Mitch) Grove, Taylor (Harley) Westcott, Dylan Jacobson and Ryan (Chelsea) Jacobson, step-grandchildren; Jeremy, Melissa, Jamie. Devin and April, six great grandchildren, 10 step great grandchildren, mother-in-law; Fay Palm, brothers-in-law; Gregg Palm, Ron Palm and Shannon (Shari) Palm, numerous uncles, aunts, nieces; nephews, cousins and many friends.
